Leadership Development Initiatives

Since the return of Leadership Development Initiatives in October 2014, more than two hundred staff and faculty have attended at least one class and over one hundred and twenty-five employees have completed all six modules of LDI I: Foundations of Leadership, and received their certificates.

The “new” LDI was redesigned as a rolling, six-course program to give participants the flexibility to attend courses and complete the program on their own schedules. LDI I equips experienced, and aspiring, supervisors with practical leadership tools to build relationships, communicate effectively, delegate, plan, and conduct performance evaluations.

A central theme that weaves all LDI courses together is that a leader is the “CEO” of the work environment. They have the influence, and some say – responsibility, to create a workplace where people feel appreciated, accepted, valued, prepared, and connected so that they can do their best work.

Our more advanced leadership program, LDI II: Transformational Leadership, debuted this fall 2015 and offers leaders the knowledge and skills to build confidence, lead change, manage relationships up, down, and across, and develop coaching skills. Twenty-six staff and faculty completed the two-day intensive course thus far with thirteen more who are scheduled to attend the program in December.
