University of Maryland, College Park employees can rest easy knowing that their paychecks are correct and unaffected by the discrepancies found by the state during its switch to a computerized system this past Spring. A recent article in the Baltimore Sun “Maryland might have underpaid about a quarter of its workforce”, highlights inconsistencies found during a switch to a unified electronic payroll system, in former payroll systems calculating overtime and shift differential pay. Colleen Auburger, UMD Comptroller, confirmed with the Central Payroll Bureau (CPB) that the issue uncovered does not at all affect College Park employees. This is in large part due to the use of an electronic system (PHR) and how the University has always reported gross earnings to CPB.
