Benefits Spotlight: FREE Weight Management Programs

Looking to reach your health and weight goals this spring? All three of the State’s medical plans offer FREE weight management programs designed to support your health and help you thrive.

You may also be able to use your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for a gym membership if you have a diagnosed medical condition, such as hypertension, diabetes, or obesity, or if you have an injury that your doctor recommends exercise as part of your treatment plan. Both you and your doctor would need to complete the Letter of Medical Necessity Form and submit it to P&A Group. You would then submit a claim form for reimbursement. Please review the P&A FSA Brochure, linked on the UHR website, for the information and the Letter of Medical Necessity form.

You can also receive an annual $150.00 reimbursement for enrollment and payment for a weight-loss program directly from your medical carrier.

  • CareFirst: Weight management startup and monthly membership fees reimbursed up to $150 annually for employee/retiree and enrolled spouses through the Weight Loss Reimbursement Form
  • UnitedHealthcare: Weight management startup and monthly membership fees reimbursed up to $150 annually for employee/retiree and enrolled spouses. Weight Loss Reimbursement Form
  • Kaiser Permanente: Weight management program is handled directly through Kaiser Permanente and your Primary Care Physician (PCP), Weight Management Resources
