Benefits Spotlight: Mental Wellness

Sun Shining on McKeldin

January is Mental Wellness Month. The University and University Human Resources remain committed to supporting the overall well-being of all employees. From emotional and physical health to family and professional support, a wide range of resources are available to help you thrive both at work and at home. Each type of well-being is broken down, and resources are shared in the Well-Being webpage of the UHR website.

Primary Care Physicians are a great place to start in your wellness journey. As a State of Maryland employee, take advantage of the 2025/2026 Wellness Program Activities, which can save you money. By completing a health survey and confirming your PCP, you will receive free PCP visits through 12/31/2026. Additionally, you can earn up to a $10 reduction on specialist copays until the end of 2026 by completing certain screenings, including checking your blood pressure and completing a comprehensive metabolic blood panel (plus an annual eye exam). Your enrolled spouse or domestic partner must complete the Wellness Activities to receive the copay reduction. Please note: Dependent children are not eligible to participate in the State’s Wellness program.
