I-9 and E-Verify System
Federal law requires the verification of identity and employment authorization of all individuals hired for employment in the United States with the Form I-9 and includes citizens and noncitizens. Additionally, employers with federal contracts or subcontracts that contain the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) E-Verify clause are required to confirm the eligibility of the employee to work in the United States.
