Are you looking to improve your English skills, gain computer literacy, or brush up on your reading and writing? You've come to the right place! This guide provides a comprehensive list of free classes and resources available in Maryland to help you achieve your learning goals.
This guide is divided into three sections:
- English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL): Learn about free classes offered by local organizations to help you master English communication.
- Computer, Internet & Technology: Find resources to develop your basic computer skills and navigate the digital world with confidence.

ENGEN
The overarching goal of AMP's UMD/EnGen program is to improve inclusion and cross-campus access for diverse, non-native speaking community members, offering them the personalized language support that they need. Ana A. Brito Foundation Inc.
Epworth's Ana A. Brito Foundation's English as a Second Language program uses the third edition of the Ventures series. This series consists of six levels that take students from the basic level, where the learning process begins, to an intermediate higher level. Students who finish the series will be ready to continue their studies at the university level or other more advanced English studies. Carroll Community College
Carroll Community College welcomes all students who are English Language Learners, through 3 programs (Basic skills, Continuing education, and Academic). Classes start in September, October, January, April, and July. For more information email: esol@carrollcc.edu or call: (410) 386-8630.
Montgomery College
The Adult ESOL Program provides basic English language and life skills instruction to Maryland residents whose native language is not English. Students must be at least 18 years old. Students with F1 or J1 visas cannot take classes in this program. Class is Monday, Tuesday, or Saturday at a variety of locations and times. Check the link for more information. Technology Corner: Learn at your own pace by taking free classes online or register for in-person instruction at a local branch. If you are unable to travel to a branch, we offer a large range of virtual classes through the 24/7 online library.
